The Scientist Within You, Volume One:
Experiments and Biographies of Distinguished Women in Science
by Rebecca Lowe Warren
and Mary H. Thompson
“The Scientist Within You introduces wonderful role models for girls. 12-year-old Mary Anning discovered the skeleton of an ichthyosaurus, inspiring a career in Dinosaur Paleontology. 9-year-old Caroline Herschel saw Halley’s Comet, then went on to discover 8 new comets in a life-long career in Astronomy. Young women need to see that science is a viable career option. Through “i>The Scientist Within You they will find that learning science is great fun and they can expand this knowledge into exciting careers.”
“I remember how much I wanted to be a scientist and how quickly I gave the notion
up. Had there been such a book available … my whole life would have been different.”
“This book is bound to increase girls’ expectations of themselves and to increase every young person’s interest in science and math.”
